Less than one week

Forrest and I have been working hard over the last several weeks to nail down our itinerary for the trip and get those last minute preparations finished.  You will see the time zones published on the right side of the blog which will give an idea of where we are going, generally speaking.  We have some wonderful excursions planned at each of the places but more to come on those in later posts.

The stress has been getting both of us health-wise but we are pushing through to the goal with less than one week remaining.  If you were to look at our "trip" room you would swear we were going on an expedition rather than a cruise.  Though if we were taking an expedition we are not short on friends and family volunteering to be our porters.  Course it hasn't escaped our notice that they have bad backs too.

Forrest has been getting great enjoyment at my excitement at the recent weight limits allowed by Qantas for luggage.  We are flying Qantas back at the end of the trip. Apparently, we can take two bags at 70lbs each.  For the math impaired, yes that is 140lbs!  Everyone who knows me well will bet i will be as close to that as my two bags will allow.  For those of you who are numbers people that works out to be 3 outfits a day for two weeks. Fortunately there is laundry aboard.  Let the snipes begin!  :-)

Forrest will be posting a more detailed itinerary by weeks end.  This week is filled with closure and touching base with friends and family before our departure oh and those last minute items that need attending to.  We will be accessible through this blog, and our email addresses for everyone and Forrest has set up means for us to call through our computers.  At a few ports we will be accessible by mobile phone.  All the ports (even the remote ones) are internet accessible and we will be checking email along the way except in those ports where the excursion takes up the full day.

Thank you to all our friends and family for helping us get ready.  We have appreciated the help.
More to come...

I love travel blogs! Better not write too enthuastically or you might have a houseboy at the Great Barrier Reef for sure.
